Ransom Braaten

Ransom Braaten is a tennis professional with over a decade of experience in racquet-sports instruction, program development, and club operations. He has worked across private clubs, retail environments, and independent programs, coaching players of all ages and skill levels.

Ransom played Division I collegiate tennis at Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. He later continued his collegiate career at Lewis University and California Lutheran University, experiences that broadened his perspective on player development across competitive and recreational settings. His Division I background strongly informs a coaching approach built on sound fundamentals, match-play awareness, and disciplined but supportive training environments.

He specializes in adult and junior instruction, clinics and leagues, and thoughtfully structured on-court programming designed to be engaging, organized, and effective. Ransom is the founder of Racket Nut, a tennis company through which he coached players in Los Angeles and built programs centered on high-quality instruction, community engagement, and player experience.

In addition, Ransom is a co-creator of Timeball, an on-court tennis game and training format designed to increase engagement, repetition, and competitive awareness in group settings. This work reflects his interest in modern, innovative approaches to growing participation and improving the on-court experience.

Ransom also brings extensive experience in racquet services, including stringing and customization, and understands the role equipment plays in player development and performance. He is known for his professionalism, strong communication, and attention to detail, as well as his ability to build lasting relationships with players and club members.
